Dan is a seasoned "pracademic" with extensive experience in both the industry and academia. He is the Founder of Lightbulb Capital, with operations in Hong Kong and Singapore. Previously, Dan served as the Chief Investment Officer of the Modular Blockchain Fund at Modular Asset Management and as the Chief Operating Officer of HSBC Securities in Singapore. In academia, Dan is an Affiliate Faculty Member at Singapore Management University, where he teaches courses on Cryptography, Blockchain & Digital Assets, and Decentralized Finance (DeFi). His research on blockchain in financial markets has been published in various academic journals. Additionally, Dan is the Associate Editor-In-Chief of World Scientific's "Annual Review of Fintech" journal. His (with Sandy Oh) book “Decentralized Autonomous Organizations: How Finance can Interact with Blockchain-based DAOs" will be published in Oct or Nov of 2024. He is completing his PhD in Finance at Erasmus University in 2024 and holds Master's degrees in Innovation (SMU) and Finance (IE).

Academic Spotlight: Decentralized Finance (DeFi) in 2034; Possible Impact on Financial Services and Needed Competencies for its Professionals

There is a growing literature on DeFi (Market) Mechanisms, Governance, Opportunities and Risks but much less is known about the possible impact of Decentralised Finance (DeFi) on the Financial Services industry and the organisation-level competencies and skills required in financial services in the future. This survey-based research sheds light on these two areas.
