HE. Dr. Maryam Al Suwaidi is the CEO of Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), the mainland UAE’s capital market regulator, Board Member of Al Etihad Credit Bureau, Institute of Corporate Governance and Member of National Committee on AMLCFT and Financial Restructuring Committee dealing with bankruptcy resolution. Earlier, she led several regulatory functions at SCA, including supervision, enforcement, licensing, legal, research and corporate governance apart from being Board Member of Insurance Authority and Project Manager for UAE’s FATF Mutual Assessment. HE. Dr. Al Suwaidi is the first Emirati Woman to be accredited by FATF as an AML expert and country assessor and also featured by Forbes in several top leaders’ lists. Dr. Al Suwaidi holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Leeds, UK, a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Wales, ICA(UK)’s International Diploma in AML and an Honors degree in ‘Shariah and Law’.
